UAMARRC/COH GRADUATE RESEARCH GRANTS
Each academic year, contingent upon availability
of funding, UAMARRC is pleased to offer UAMARRC/COH Graduate Research Grants (GRGs)
of up to $500 per academic year.
For the 2007/2008 academic year, we are offering two grants in
the value of $500 to assist graduate students to attend conferences (with
presentation on the program), to travel to archives, and libraries.

Purpose
GRGs are intended directly to support access to
data that cannot be obtained at and/or through the University of Arizona. Judges
will give preference to applications, for example, to
-
support travel for fieldwork or archival investigations
-
procure special media used in the collection and preservation of
research data (for example, microfiche and microfilm).
GRGs will not be awarded to support
-
the purchase of ordinary office supplies (such as paper, ink
cartridges, and blank computer disks)
-
computer hardware and other customary tools of research
-
photocopies of materials available at the University of Arizona or
through interlibrary loan.
-
subventions associated with the printing or other presentation of
research
-
activities incidental to the conduct of scholarly research (such as
travel to conferences)
-
living expenses other than those incurred during travel associated
with fieldwork or archival investigation.

Applicants must be working toward degrees
in the fields of medieval and/or Renaissance/early modern studies.
-

Ph.D. programs at UA, except that eligibility extends to students enrolled
in M.A. programs in units (such as the Department of Classics) where the
M.A. is the highest UA degree awarded.
-
Each student is eligible for GRG funding only once. Successful
applicants who accept GRG funding will be ineligible for additional GRGs.
Successful applicants
who decline GRG funding remain eligible for funding in later rounds.
Unsuccessful applicants may reapply in later rounds.
-
Within one year from the date of acceptance of the grant,
successful applicants will submit to UAMARRC a written report of 3-5
double-spaced pages detailing their progress on the funded project.
-
Successful applicants are expected to present their findings
at one of the UAMARRC-sponsored "Work-in-Progress" symposia.
