Faculty governance at the University of
Arizona functions under the Constitution and
Bylaws of the General Faculty.
"The
General Faculty has fundamental responsibilities in the areas of academic
personnel policy; instruction and curriculum policy; research policy;
student affairs policy; ethics and commitment; advice on budget and
University support; and acts on such other matters affecting the welfare of
the University as are brought for consideration in accordance with
University policy and Shared Governance Guidelines and Agreements as may be
entered into from time to time."

"The Faculty Senate is the legislative body
responsible to the General Faculty. Actions of the Faculty Senate may be
appealed to the General Faculty by petition, under the provisions of the
Bylaws Article III, Section 1, within eleven class
days of the date under which Faculty Senate minutes reporting such
actions were distributed to the General Faculty."
