(cycling)
Downtown Tucson
REGISTRATION FOR 2009 NOW OPEN
El Tour is a fun ride
attracting some over 9,000 cyclists of all ages and
abilities from throughout the United States and beyond,
including novice, intermediate, advanced, and
professional riders. Participants often take part in El
Tour and its festivities simply due to their passion for
cycling, while others choose the event as part of a
healthy lifestyle change or as part of their wellness
program as a survivor from cancer or other
life-threatening illness. Many are attracted to El
Tour’s variety of fundraising programs for
charitable agencies, for which the event raised over
$1.39 million dollars last year. What all riders of El
Tour share is a desire to get on their bikes, meet great
people and have a fun doing it! Participants may choose to cycle 109,
80, 67 or 35 miles, plus a 4-mile & 1/4- mile Fun Ride,
open to kids, parents and friends. Main routes take
participants around scenic areas of Tucson, with
beautiful vistas of its local mountain ranges - three
rising over 9000 feet- all complete with the backdrop of
the mighty saguaro cactus, icon of the Southwest’s
Sonoran Desert. Course profiles can be rolling to
moderately hilly, though the 35-mile route is basically
flat and great as a family affair or for beginners!

Send your thanks to
our soldiers.
It only takes a minute and is so worthwhile.
If you go to the
web site
http://www.letssaythanks.com/ you can pick out a thank you card
and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is
currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it
will go to some member of the armed services. It is FREE and it
only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers
received a bunch of these? I sent mine, now you send one too! |

Curb Auto
Theft with the Watch Your Car Program:
It's Quick, Easy and FREE!
The Watch Your Car
decal program is a free, voluntary program that
vehicle owners enroll their vehicles with the
Arizona Automobile Theft Authority. The vehicle is
then entered into the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD)
database and participants receive decals for their
front and rear windows. By displaying the decals,
vehicle owners convey to law enforcement officials
that their vehicle is not usually in use between the
hours of 1:00 AM and 5:00 AM, when the majority of
auto thefts occur. In addition, by enrolling in the
Watch Your Car Program, vehicle owners also
authorize law enforcement officials to stop their
vehicle at any time during the day or night within
one mile of the border, if there is a suspicion that
the vehicle is being illegally operated.
If a police officer
witnesses the vehicle in operation between these
hours, they have the right to stop the vehicle and
verify it is being legally operated by the rightful
owner.
