Emily Krauz Staff Endowment Scholarship
|
 |
The Staff Endowment was begun in the late 1980's as part of the Century II
Capital Campaign. In 1996 the fund was renamed "The Emily Krauz Staff
Endowment Scholarship" in honor of Emily Krauz, a dedicated staff member
who worked as an administrative associate at the Faculty Center until she passed
on in 1996. The fund has been funded entirely through donations from UA
employees, not all of whom were Classified Staff members. The Staff Advisory
Council was given the responsibility of overseeing the endowment and the
awarding of the earned interest. |
The Emily Krauz Staff Endowment Scholarship is open to any benefits-eligible
UA classified staff member. The purpose of the fund is to encourage and support
UA career staff members towards their career advancement and/or education.
This scholarship can be applied towards educational expenses such as
registration costs, books and supplies. Class registration may be at the UA,
including correspondence courses, or Pima Community College.
Awards are presented twice a year and average about $150.00 to each
recipient. The total amount awarded every fall and spring is about $1,000.00.
Due to the large number of applicants, not all will receive an award. Recipients
and amounts awarded to each are chosen by an independent selection committee
from those who have applied during the preceding months to June and November.
Recipients are notified with a letter and are also published at this Winners
Page.
Scholarship recipients are reimbursed for their expenses AFTER they turn in
their receipts, up to the amount of the award. For example, if you are awarded
$150.00 and hand in receipts for tuition, books and supplies for $90.00, you
will be reimbursed for $90.00.
SAC gladly welcomes contributions to the Endowment fund.
You can even write in Emily Krauz on your United Way giving form to make a
quick and painless donation! If you or your
