Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and
Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Staff Advisory Council is proud to recognize the quiet
talent and original artistry that often goes unnoticed among staff at The
University of Arizona. This year’s employee-artists have created an amazing
array of works from watercolor, drawing, illustration, and photography to
sculpture, painting and even a little class junk. Don’t miss the opportunity to
stop by the Union Gallery, in the Student Union Memorial Center, to experience
this exhibit yourself.

SAC President Eva Gonzales made the announcement of
the winners at the opening reception on March 28...
I’d like to start out today by thanking all
of you for joining us today in this special event which recognizes the
artistic skills of classified staff and appointed personnel here at the
University of Arizona.
The On Our Own Time Art Exhibit is one of
two university wide events held annually, the other being the Awards for
Excellence Event which will be held on April 16th in the Student Union
ballroom from 3-5 pm.
The On Our Own Time Art Exhibit is meant to
be a space for recognition of talent that would otherwise go unnoticed
by most coworkers. This recognition nurtures the richness of the
University’s greatest resource its employees.
On Our Own Time had a small beginning in
1993, but has become an all-University celebration where staff from
across campus come together, sharing their latest endeavors and getting
to know new friends.
A special thank you goes to Jose Solorzano,
the Arts committee chairman who has been with the committee since 1998,
for all his hard work and continued dedication. Also, many thanks to the
Arts committee which put this wonderful exhibit together and the Union
Gallery Staff who is hosting the exhibit again this year. And, of
course we are very thankful to art professors Carlton Bradford and James
Cook, our judges, who have awarded ribbons in the usual categories
this year.
