The Awards for Excellence Employee Recognition Committee enjoys making these surprise visits to announce the winners of the 2012 awards and being part of the surprise patrol is always gratifying.

The surprise patrol got off to a good start with past president Kathi Hart making the announcement to her own sister. Sheila was in a meeting when asked to step out for an emergency only to find the boisterous group of nominators and us in the lobby. Congratulations Sheila!

Paul and his nominators were in a meeting when the surprise patrol interrupted to make his announcement. Kenneth said they were running out of reasons to keep Paul there and he was relieved when the patrol arrived.

Christy had a group of students in her office and was surprised when she was told she had some people to see her. We all filed into her office and she was even more surprised when her big check was opened.

Robin answered the door when the surprise patrol interrupted and was even mildly reluctant to let this strange group with cameras invade the meeting. Once she realized her nominator was in on the surprise she was embarrassed, but happy to hear she was nominated, and had won!

Mary was in a large conference room filled with people and her co-workers who went in with the surprise patrol couldn’t wait to be part of it. Everyone said how much she deserved the recognition and after our visit they treated her to dessert.

The Committee was in the midst of a videoconference with its members in Phoenix and Hawaii when the surprise patrol showed up to make the announcement. Trying to get everyone into the group photo was interesting, but not difficult for this group that organizes these things all the time. Keep up the great work team!

The surprise patrol rolled into Sierra Vista a little early and hung out with Ike's wife Natalene in the Admin building while Ike set things up for the announcement of one of the committee members who was going to be announced. Little did he know it was all a ruse to get him there to announce his award. He was modestly surprised when everyone present, and those being teleconferenced in, congratulated him on his much deserved award.
