Activities Committee Meeting  / 12:00 to 1:00 pm

Location:  Bear down Gym, Rm 103

Committee Members Present:  Claudia Arias, Lupe Jacobo, Marcy Remington, Claire Tapia and Chair:  Eva Gonzales.    Guest:  Randy Livingston

Meeting Notes:   

• Eva distributed materials relating to activities we discussed.  We assigned activities to each person.  They will coordinate the event with the help of the committee.
• Proposed schedule and delegation (We need to submit a budget form for each activity (approx costs).  Lupe will be distributing those to us soon.
  1. Diamondback game:  Coordinators:  Lupe and Claudia.   Proposed day:  Sept 16/Sun at 1:10 pm   Lupe will look into booking us for the game and the cost.  Claudia will check into the bus (will need to leave at least 2 hours prior).  Make sure we invite UA South and College of Medicine/Phx (Phoenix will have the option of buying the game ticket only since they are located there anyway)   Have goodie bags for each passenger, give out prizes.  Bring a movie or two to play on the way
  2. Light the Night:  Coordinators:  Eva and Grace will promote this event.  Team captain kick-off for Wednesday, August 8th from 5:00 - 7:00pm at the Windmill Suites at St. Philip’s Plaza – all are invited to attend
  3. KUAT Volunteer-phones:  Coordinator – Claire.  She will try to schedule us sometime in Sept on a Saturday
  4. Halloween:  Coordinator – Lupita Cruz.  We suggested trying to move the event on the Mall and maybe on Oct 29/Mon instead of Wed.  Push the Department themes along with the individual costumes.  Serve only popcorn, candy apples (have each SAC member donate 6), punch and water and cotton candy.  Maybe a tent if not too expensive.  Check with Kathi Hart, 621-1299
  5. Craft Sale:  Coordinator – Claudia Arias.  Suggest event sometime in November on a Friday.  Have tables for rent at $20.  Proceeds from the items are theirs, we do not claim any.  Need to start advertising as soon as possible so people can start doing their crafts items.
  6. Santa Calling:  Coordinator:  Marcy Remington.  Call City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department sometime in November.  Last year we called Mani at 791-4873 x 134
  7. Bake (2) sales:  Coordinators:  Shana and Robin.  Need to decide when –  February or in April or maybe when we have our Craft sales (Nov).
  8. UA Pride Night:  Coordinator:  Claire Tapia.  Since she is on the Legislature committee she can work with them.
  9. UA cares:  Coordinator – Eva.  More info to come
  10. Blood drive:  Coordinator:  Eva.  Call and see if times are available for us to sponsor or piggy back with another group.  Might consider challenging the other Universities.
  11. White Elephant Event at December SAC General Meeting:  Coordinator:  Marcy

Next meeting:  September 20/Thursday / 12-1pm at SAC Office, Bear down Gym, Rm 103.  Every 3^rd Thursday from now on.
