Activities Committee Meeting Minutes

August 29, 2007

Location: Career Services 411

Committee Members Present:  Claudia Arias and Lupe Jacobo

Meeting Notes:   

  • Claudia distributed materials relating to activities we discussed. 
  • Proposed schedule and delegation

1.     Diamondback game:  Coordinators:  Lupe and Claudia.   Day:  Sept 27th Colorado Rockies/Saturday at 5:10 pm   Lupe booked 50 tickets for the game (same price, upgraded seats). (Yes, bus available for 50 people (will need to leave 2.5 hours prior from Foothills Mall-price $700.00 ( will provide giveaways like last year for us).  Make sure we invite UA South and College of Medicine/Phx (Phoenix will have the option of buying the game ticket only since they are located there anyway).  Have goodie bags for each passenger, give out prizes.  Bring a movie to play on the way. NO CAMPUS MAIL payments will be accepted due to delay in delivery time.  Cost apprx. $40-$45 per person, no children prices.

2.     KUAT Volunteer-phones:  Coordinator – Claudia  We are scheduled for September 13th from 6:30-10pm we will need about  6 to 7 people for this event.

3.     Halloween:  No event planned for this year, instead a food drive for Food Bank.

4.     November- Lupe Possible Tailgating event planned with Aaron from athletics.

5.     Craft Sale:  No event that SAC will host this year.  We can suggestion to our past vendors to register with CSIL Craft events.  They will have three events and they are as follow:  Holiday Gift Expo for Nov. 20th, Spring Vendor Fair for Jan. 15th and the Community Services Fair on April 23rd.  The event fee for one table and two chairs is $50.00.  For more information call Bonnie Arriaga at barriaga@email.arizona.edu Or 621-3848.

6.     Santa Calling:  Coordinator:  Claudia Arias.  Called the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department sometime in August.  Contact person is Julie Sanders at 837-8044.  They have not assigned a lead person but as soon as they set a date they will call.

7.     December event-Adopt teen organization for holidays donation.

8.     UA cares:  Coordinator – No one assigned

10.  Making Strides Against Breast Cancer: Sunday, October 26,2008 at the Rillito Down (4502 N. First Ave.) 7am registration and the event starts at 8am.  It is a 3k or 5k event.  Event t-shirt is $10.00 if we would put a logo the deadline is Oct 3rd to submit.  If we sell 10 or more the print is free. I will email the link to Grace. 

Next meeting:  Tuesday, September 9th at Career Services office Suite 411.  Meeting every 2nd Thursday from now on.
