Graduate Program Admissions Requirements (US Citizen or Resident Alien) for MA and PhD Candidates

Department Requirements (documents go to NES at above address):

1.      Original transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

2.       GPA 3.0 on undergraduate degree (cumulative GPA or last 60 semester units if your GPA is lower than 3.0 cumulative)

3.       GRE – UA code is 4832.  Use department code 2201 (area studies), or 2299 (social sciences, other)

4.     3 letters of recommendation from academic references preferable- we do not have a recommendation form.  Please be sure that letters arrive on letterhead, in sealed envelopes with the recommender's signature over the seal.  RELEASE FORM, waiver of right to access recommendation form.

5.       Statement of purpose

6.       Curriculum Vitae/Resume

7.       Writing Sample (Term Paper, Chapter of Thesis, etc.)
