The winner of the inaugural MESA Mentoring Award was announced at the Association’s 1996 annual meeting, November 21-24, 1996, in Providence, Rhode Island. The award recognizes exceptional contributions retired faculty have made to the education and training of others.

The inaugural MESA Mentoring Award was presented to:

J.C. Hurewitz
Columbia University (Emeritus)

Professor Hurewitz was presented with a hand-painted and calligraphed certificate which read:
