Additional Information The Harvard Law School, in conjunction with other Harvard schools and faculties,offer programs of instruction leading to specialization in Islamic law and in the laws of the Muslim world. These programs draw on the resources of the entire University to enable effective interdisciplinary courses of study. Programs are to be tailored to individual interests, and may employ a number of different methodologies, including law, comparative law, legal theory, Islamic Studies, history, comparative religion, economics, political science, sociology and anthropology. Possible programs involve either single or concurrent degree programs. Possible single degree programs with concentration in Islamic law include the AM or PhD from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and the JD (3-year initial law degree), LLM or SJD (advanced law degrees) from the Law School. Students earning single degrees may complement courses relevant to Islamic law available in their own degree-granting faculty with courses taken by cross-registration in other faculties. In concurrent degree programs, the student simultaneously earns two degrees from two faculties or schools of the University. Possible concurrent degree programs include JD/AM; JD/PhD; LLM/AM; LLM/PhD; SJD/AM.
