  Special Features
"Middle Eastern studies" can be pursued at Brown University as a regular concentration. It requires a minimum of eight courses, not including necessary language preparation.  To graduate with honors, students must complete an honors thesis or a major project (equivalent of two additional courses).  Ten courses, including two in Modern Hebrew, are required for concentration in Judaic Studies. Graduate degrees related to Judaic Studies, Contemporary Religious Thought or Early Christianity are offered through the  Religious Studies Department. Interdisciplinary work with the Departments of Political Science, Sociology, History and Anthropology is encouraged. Egyptology Department offers graduate degrees in Egyptology.
