Welcome to the Medical Anthropology web site at the
University of Arizona. It serves several purposes.

It will inform you about our teaching and research activities as engaged anthropologists
actively working on subjects related to international health and development;
ethnomedicine; anthropology of the body; health disparity; the political economy and
political ecology of health; gender and health; adolescent health; aging; pharmaceutical
practices; etc.

It will provide you with information about graduate studies
in medical anthropology at the University of Arizona. Information is provided on courses
taught and degrees offered.

The site serves as a network resource for current and former students enabling them to
keep in touch and maintain a sense of community. A bulletin board is availabe for student
use as well as a list serve. Only current and former students have access to the student
network area.

We are happy to share some of our resources. Provided are a series of links we commonly
use to stay abreast of what is happening in the fields of anthropology, the health social
sciences, and international health and development etc.
From time to time we post bibliographies, articles,
photographs and videos on the site related to subjects of special interest. These
materials and course syllabi are posted and available to the general public. Some - but
not all - course reading lists are available to the general public. Course materials are
tailored to the needs of cohorts of students and are constantly changing.
