TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Sept. 1976-June 1977 Tutor, Department of Social Anthropology, Introductory Anthropology, University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland
Jan. 1981-Mar. 1983 Lecturer, University of Hawaii: a significant part of my post-doctoral activities in clinical anthropology was the giving of seminars on social and medical anthropology to nursing students, medical students, psychiatric residents, social work interns, students of public health and students of medical anthropology.
Oct. 1983-Aug. 1984 Fulbright Professor in the anthropology of health.Post Graduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo and Health Education Bureau, Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka.
I played a major role in the development of Sri Lanka's first M.Sc. course in health education. This multidisciplinary course sponsored by the WHO placed emphasis on a behavioral science approach to health education, community diagnosis and health. promotion. In addition to curriculum development and lecturing, I was actively involved in the formulation and modeling of field exercises designed as participatory learning experiences.

Sept. 1988-present Joint appointment with Department of Family and Community Medicine. I have been an active member of the teaching staff in this department since 1985. I frequently lecture in MPH program and actively participate in the Arizona Prevention Center .
