Toys 'R' Us Has Cheated Canadians Today (Nov.19/06)
With the lure of Wii bundle that included; The Nintendo Wii Package, an additional Wii-mote and a game of your choice, for the cost of the system, And all you had to do was put a $50 deposit down.
Several Canadians, Including Myself, flocked to the local Toys 'R' Us to place our deposits.
When Toys 'R' Us opened today all those with deposit slips where in for a nasty surprise. Toys 'R' Us dropped the deal. You got Nothing, No additional Wii-mote, no game. Instead they told you you had to buy an extra Wii-mote and a game, to pick up your system. (They claim head office changed it)
So first they tell you, you get the extras for no additional cost, Then they tell you, you must buy the extras to buy the Wii. And to top it off they opened at 11am long after anyone else; Leaving you with one choice, buy the Wii here or don't get one at all.
I don't think so. I fought it, Now I'm not happy with the results. No I didn't get my promised deal, but I did walk out with my Wii without buying their "requirements"
The other thing that upsets me is regarding Zelda.
I Pre-Ordered the special edition last September, They gave me the exact same edition they had on their shelf. I pointed out I ordered the special edition, and was told they only ordered one type. Those low-life's wouldn't even give me a Wii points card for their screw up.
So why would Toys 'R' Us lie to people in the first place?
Quite Simple: For Money
Sure they didn't have to lie to ensure the full stock would be sold, But by taking all deposits they made easy money, in the form of interest.
Sure the interest on $50 is low, but look at the bigger picture, they sure did, My location alone had 28 pre-orders and its a small town, can you imagine how many they got accost Canada?
Now take all of those deposits, place them in the account in which their profits go, and you will start to see a very hefty interest.
So we have a nice fat wallet in trade of a few lies, sounds like a good deal eh?
