SUMMER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

WILDCAT BATTALION TRAINING

The Wildcat Battalion trains its MSI, MSII, and MSIII cadets on the following objectives in order to prepare them for the annual National Advanced Leadership Course, Ft. Lewis, WA.

Field Leadership Reaction Course-

FLRC is focused on evaluating a cadet’s leadership qualities and problem-solving skills in a challenging mission-simulated environment. Cadets are giving a formal evaluation on their performance which includes feedback on their leadership strengths, weaknesses, styles and techniques.

Basic Rifle Marksmanship-

BRM teaches a cadet to become familiar with the basic Army rifle (M16), how to accurately fire it, and how to maintain and service the weapon. The Wildcat Battalion trains at Ft. Huachuca Army Base, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, and at our own on-campus indoor range. Accuracy and safety are key principals in our training. Cadets are fire for record with the goal to qualify at the National Advanced Leadership Course.

Land Navigation-

The Wildcat Battalion spends a considerable amount of time conducting Land navigation training at Ft. Huachuca, AZ. Cadets study map-reading skills in the classroom and then implement their skills in the field during day and night land navigation exercises. A passing score in land navigation is now a camp completion criterion for the National Advanced Leadership Course.

Individual Tactical Training-

ITT includes individual battlefield skills, combat movement techniques, and procedures necessary for subsequent tactical training at the squad and platoon level.

Squad Situational Training Exercises-

Squad STX training includes squad battle drills collective tasks, and ITT techniques. During the Squad STX lanes, cadets act as squad leaders and are evaluated on their leadership skills during tactical scenarios. Cadets train in the field at Davis-Monthan AFB and Ft. Huachuca. Cadets use their land navigation skills, terrain association, familiarity with various weapons systems, as well as communication and briefing skills in order to complete their squad STX missions.

Patrolling Situational Training Exercises-

Patrolling STX is the culmination of all the training conducted in the classroom and in the field. Cadets are in charge of leading a 2-squad element through various “patrolling missions” while being evaluated on their leadership qualities.
