University of Arizona APAC Retreat

Wednesday, August 2, 2006 

1. APAC Infomercial Activity 

For this activity, we were organized into small groups and we were asked to create a ninety second infomercial.  This infomercial was to be aired a year from now to the campus community prior to a huge recruitment effort. 

Infomercial Themes: The APAC Infomercial themes noted from each presentation could be distilled as follows: 

  1. Name recognition.

  2. Diversity of group.

  3. Proud [Pride in being a member of APAC].

  4. The size of the group.

  5. Support function.

  6. APAC is a Creative group.

  7. APAC is a Welcoming group.

  8. Unique: No other group does what APAC does.

  9. Provides opportunities for Appointed Professionals to connect.

  10. APAC Empowers others to perform.

  11. APAC is in the know.

  12. APAC recognizes the need to constantly define ourselves.

  13. APAC has accomplishments.

  14. APAC has a place in shared governance.

  15. APAC has a voice.

  16. APAC can do ______.

  17. APAC inspires to influence decisions on campus.

  18. As a group APAC needs involvement to make contributions.

  19. APAC serves as a conduit for information flow.

  20. APAC has access at ALL levels in the University of Arizona.

2.  APAC Vision Statement

In this activity, we worked in small groups to consider four questions related to the vision of APAC. This activity is a starting place to gather information we can organize into a Vision Statement. Responses from the small groups to the questions are listed below.

How will our organization enhance the quality of life for those who use our services/products?

 3. APAC Values

In this activity we worked in small groups to create a list of values that APAC must embrace to be a successful organization. Responses were gathered to create a master list of possible values, and multi-voting was used to rank the list in importance to the group.

 4. Strategic Priorities

 For this activity we worked together in small groups to identify strategic priorities that would be need to move APAC forward towards to vision discussed in the earlier activity. Results were combined, and multi-voting was used to identify top strategic priorities.
