General Meeting Minutes
September 1, 2009

Call to Order: 3:09 p.m.

Opening Announcements – Eddie Gomez

Treasurer’s Report – Eddie Gomez for Sharon Bouck

The balance in the account is $8437.17, The Conference account has $4931.79 and the General Fund has $1248.59. There are no expenses pending for August. 

Old Business

Town Hall with President Shelton, Sept 15th from 1:30 – 2:30 

Volunteers arrive by 12:45 p.m. Will help in seating attendees as close to the front as possible, allowing for late arrivals to sit towards the back.   

Volunteers will also pass out a handout stating the SAC Mission Statement and information on the SAC Tailgate on October 24 and tickets for sale for the Football Game against UCLA ($25 plus a $6 handling charge per order). 

This handout will also feature a web address where individuals may go to view the entire Town Hall live or after the event.   

A total of 5300 individuals were sent the invite to the Town Hall. 

The Town Hall has been graciously Co-Sponsored by the President. 

Doors open at 1pm.   

Questions that come in via email will be asked by SAC Volunteers to help get the ball rolling sort of speak.  

Wear SAC shirts and name tags. 

New Business

SAC Tailgate Party and Football UCLA vs. UA

Tickets $25 each. Includes food at the tailgate party. Purchase by Sept 28, 2009. Please post flyers in your departments. Volunteers needed to help with set-up, cooking, greeting etc. Sign up sheet for SAC members.

Please come and bring guests! 

Volunteers are needed to help staff the Tailgate Tent, first shift begins at 11 a.m. We need at least four individuals each hour. 

A flyer will be sent via the Listserv, please post in your area.  The more the merrier.

 

APAC Representative

Introduced APAC representative is Dee Belle-Oudry, from the Department of Chemistry and her title is Manager, Instructional Laboratories 

Our SAC liaison to APAC is Janelle  

Committee recordkeeping

Please keep records of all planning/activities, receipts, contact names, etc. 

A meeting with Chairs is forthcoming, in the meantime, please maintain records for your committee, and submit your budget proposal as soon as possible to Eddie. 

New Binders will be passed out to Committee Chairs.

Standing: 

1.       Tri-University Classified Staff Executive Board – SAC Executive Committee

Eddie spoke with NAU President; ASU still needs to return call.  Contemplating hosting an event in Tucson with President Shelton. 

2.       Communications - Carolyne Greeno

First meeting is Thursday, September 3 

3.       Emily Krauz Staff Endowment Fund – Shana McClelland

No report at this time. 

4.       Employee Recognition - Grace Aranda

No report at this time. 

5.       Human Resources – Monica Franco

Letter sent to Leslie Porter, requesting a meeting to go over SAC Goals for the year.   This meeting is a preliminary meeting where a letter will be drafted to President Shelton and Allison Vaillancourt requesting their support in improving upon policies and procedures for staff.  

6.       Legislative – Phyllis Kabins

Spoke with Advocats to set up workshops.  Work is under way for Pride Night. 

7.       Membership/Liaisons – Angie Gomez

Two new members, welcome, Angie will meet with them after the meeting to get Shirt Sizes and confirm spelling for name badges. 

8.       Activities – Claudia Arias

September 8 – Cat Walk Training for November 14th Event

September 16 – CSIL Vendor Fair, information available on website

October 4 – American Diabetes Walk Reid Park

October 25 – Breast Cancer Walk Rillito Downs, t-shirts are $10 each

16.   UA Retiree Organization –  Sharon Bouck—The following report was submitted but not read at the September meeting: First council meeting of UARA for the new academic year is scheduled for September 8, 2009.  Regretfully, both me and my back-up, Elvia Gandara will be unable to attend this meeting.  We will attend a monthly meeting together in the future, so the UARA council can meet Elvia. The new officers for UARA are as follows: George Evanoff, President, Thomas Rehm, Vice President/Treasurer, Rose Marie Perrill, Secretary, Suzanne Van Ort, Past President, Janice Murphy, Jubilacion Editor
