Emily Krauz
Staff Endowment Scholarship
See brochure
The Staff Endowment Fund was begun in the late 1980s as part of the
Century II Capital Campaign. In 1996 the fund was renamed the “Emily
Krauz Staff Endowment Scholarship" in honor of Emily Krauz, a dedicated
staff member who worked as an administrative associate at the Faculty
Center until she passed on in 1996. The endowment was funded entirely
through donations from UA employees, not all of whom were classified
staff members. The Staff Advisory Council was given the responsibility
of overseeing the endowment and awarding the earned interest.
The Emily Krauz Staff Endowment Scholarship is open to non-probationary,
benefits-eligible (0.50 FTE or more) UA career staff members who are
permanent resident aliens or U.S. citizens. The purpose of this fund is
to encourage and support UA classified staff members in their career
advancement and/or continuing education. This scholarship may be applied
towards educational and professional development expenses such as
registration costs, books and supplies. Education registration may be at
the University of Arizona, Arizona State University, Northern Arizona
University or Pima Community College and may include correspondence
courses.
All professional development expenses
will be considered, but highest priority will be given to those
that directly benefit your career here at the University of Arizona.
Awards are presented twice a year and average about $150 per recipient.
The total amount awarded every fall and spring is approximately $1,000
and is based upon the amount of interest earned by the fund.
Due to the
large number of applicants, not everyone will receive an award. The
number of recipients and the amounts awarded are chosen by an
independent selection committee from those applications received prior
to the deadline for the current semester (5 p.m. on November 1st for
fall and 5 p.m. on March 1st for spring). Expenses incurred after the
March 1st or November 1st deadline are eligible for submission in the
next cycle. Recipients are notified with a letter
and are published on this
Winners Page.
