Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

SAC members volunteer for a number of organizations both on and off campus.  One such organization is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

With someone being diagnosed every 5 minutes with leukemia or its related diseases of Hodgkin’s, multiple myeloma, and lymphoma, our challenge is clear.  We MUST find a cure, and need many generous friends to help achieve that goal.  Every ten minutes someone in this country dies of a blood cancer.  Please become our partner in working toward a cure for this #1 child-killing disease.

Various events are held through out the year to raise money for this worthwhile cause...

Tucson Celebrity Waiters Dinner
Community celebrities "serve for a cure" during The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Celebrity Waiters Dinners. Communities come together for this spoof on formal dining for some food and fun and to raise money for the Society.  The dinner features live and silent auction items, great entertainment and great local celebrities who will do anything for tips. Donations raised at this event are bringing hope to thousands of newly diagnosed blood cancer patients.  Since its inception, the Dinner has raised close to $700,000 and supported many researchers at the University of Arizona and the Arizona Cancer Center.
